God heals our shattered heart

God heals our shattered heart

Psalm 147:3: “The Lord heals the broken heart and binds up their wounds.”

Often there are fragmented pieces and agony in our hearts. Its sane cause life indeed is tough. And I too have experienced how hard it can be. Sometimes I wonder if we can pick up the broken pieces, glue them back closely and can light shimmer via the cracks. Few people might be able to help us reconcile. But what about those times when things are not only broken but shattered in a way that’s beyond repair. People do spend many years in suffering assuming this is exactly how life goes. We wonder where God was and if He was ever going to restore the shattered heart. At times we even question His existence.

When we have been wounded, crushed, denied, neglected, abused and shattered by the things of this world, The Lord our God opens wide His arms. He invites us to enter into an intimate relationship with Him through Christ Jesus. He begins to heal our torn hearts with His love and binds up our scars. We were not meant to endure brokenness on our own. Even Jesus’ heart was broken. He was wounded, betrayed, abandoned, and rejected, but He arose victoriously.

What must be done to be healed?

•Forgive others
When Jesus Christ was crucified he prayed, “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do,” (Luke 23:34). His heart still desires to forgive amidst the pain he was going through. So if we are broken today, the first thing we must do is forgive people. Forgiveness does not mean excusing or accepting the betrayal. Rather, forgiveness is the act of freeing yourself of the anguish and anger that you have felt towards the person who betrayed you. After we have forgiven the people who hurt us, we can go towards the path of healing.

If you struggle to forgive, you can pray like this:
“Father God, I have been struggling to forgive people. I cannot do it in my own way but you can help me do it. Change my heart, Lord. I want to forgive people as you forgave those who deceived you. Help me to forgive completely and most importantly from my heart. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.”

•Abide in Him
When our heart is broken we might have lost our joy. But in the presence of God, there is much more happiness. Amidst the disappointment and downcast, we can find healing for the heart by going to the Lord in prayer or worship.
Jesus said, “Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me” (John 15:4 ).

If you struggle to abide in Jesus you can pray like this:
“Father God, I am struggling to abide in Christ. Help me to set my heart, mind, and eyes upon Christ. I want to feel the presence. Take away my old heart and give me a new and clean heart that worships you only. In Jesus’ name, I pray, Amen.”

We cannot erase the pain of our life, but we can survive it, heal from it, and begin to thrive. Remain so close to God that nothing can ever hurt you to the point of havoc.

“‘ For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future,’” (Jeremiah 29:11).
