The heart longs to create a space

The heart longs to create a space

I find myself pleading,
praying with a heavy heart,
as the long days become longer
yet telling myself to be stronger.

I don’t want to keep myself
detaining in the dark,
staring deep into my soul for
the bitterness I am forced to swallow.

Lord, Can’t I be who I am
and continue to grow?

I am hiding in the darkest corner
I cannot see,
but I can feel it around the edge
slipping right away out of my take.

I’ve realized, from the first to the last
it always was the same,
still, the heart longs to create a space
a space for forgiveness.
Has the way there, all gone astray?

Lord, Can’t I be who I am
and continue to grow?
Can’t we all be who we are
and continue to grow?
